The Arabesque Ornament template creates a tessellating ornament shape. The quilted shape measures 4.75″ x 7.75″. The template has 3 curves — two for quilting the base ornament shape and a third that is used to stitch a 1/4″ echo (if desired) within this shape. The template is extremely simple to use, and only needs a marked straight line. Template edges and etched lines easily position using the marked line. The template itself is approximately 4-1/2″ x 7″.
Many will probably wonder why this template does not resemble the shape for which it was designed. The reason is simple. To quilt around “stair-stepped” edges of a template is extremely difficult. Controlling the hopping foot to stitch a corner with crisp points isn’t easy. My design allows quilters to quilt the individual units of this shape using the most stable manner, using template edges and etched guide lines for accurate and repeatable positioning.
