This quilt is made from Northcott Stonehenge fabrics. The pattern is original. It features significant free-hand quilting, as well as ruler work. It is batted Hobbs 80/20 and Tuscany wool. I used a Glide thread in a gold color. It has a beautiful sheen, and is a nice alternative to a metallic thread. It also compliments the gold flecking in the fabrics nicely. I was inspired by the lavender and green fabric, as it reminded me of Monet’s paintings. The other colors/fabrics selected were chosen to represent the red poppies, gold sunflowers, and purple lavender so well known for France. I hand painted the floral vine work with an acrylic paint to accent it. Completed in 2012.
