80″x95″

I quilted this quilt, which is made all from lucious Cherrywood hand-dyes, for the Folsom Quilt & Fiber guild of Folsom, CA.  It is their Opportunity quilt, and was raffled off at their February 2011 quilt show.  This quilt has 2 layers of batting, Hobbs 80/20 on the bottom and a Hobbs Polydown on the top.  It yields wonderful quilting definition.  Threads (all Superior So Fine) in 4 colors were also used – a dark brown, light tan, a cranberry red and a sandy tan.  I quilted custom feathering in the lighter logs.  The darker logs were done with curved rulers and free-handed swirling.  The client requested that the Valley Oak leaf be incorporated into the quilt, so I fussy placed leaves in every red square, as well as added a border of leaves & swirls.  The 10″ wide tan border was broken into 3 regions: one for the scrolling leaf border, one for a wide and fancier feathering, and then a pin-striping from the feathers to the edge.
