This online video-class teaches quilters about the fundamentals of creating grid-based designs. Three and a half hours total instruction time.

Videos 1a & 1b: Fundamentals, 44min.
This session teaches all things quilters need to know prior to actually stitching a pattern — marking the grid, marking tools, optimum threads and stability.
Video 2: Sashiko-Based Designs I, 37min.
This session teaches six primary traditional patterns that derive from Sashiko Japanese embroidery. Stitching patterns for these are used repeatedly in other patterns.
Video 3: Sashiko-Based Designs II, 32min.
This session continues with more traditional Sashiko-based patterns, but these all utilize straight lines.
Video 4: Embellishing Designs, 29min.
Learn how and where to add detailed quilting to two key designs already taught to create a family of new and unique patterns.
Video 5: Non-Traditional Designs, 45min.
Knowing the stitching patterns previously taught, seventeen non-traditional patterns are presented.
Video 6: The Grid Less Traveled, 24min.
Learn how to apply designs to rectangular and hexagonal grids to create unique and less common patterns.
Tools recommended: Graph paper notebook, pencil.
